The Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting framework – SECR is a package of regulations published by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) that came into effect from 1st April 2019. The first public disclosure will emerge in 2020, allowing companies a full year to collect the required data. Over 10,000 businesses will now have to comply with additional (or modified) energy and carbon reporting obligations from FY 2019/20 onwards.
The BEIS guidance for reporting under SECR for UK incorporated organisations is lengthy however does not holistically address all the considerations you may have around the legislation.
There is still lack of clarity around the reporting requirements and qualification criteria – BEIS guidance has left many businesses with unanswered questions. To help you understand SECR better, our team have investigated the legislation in detail, to answer the questions we are hearing from clients again and again and created our helpful SECR guide to support you through the SECR requirements.
