LCA is an analytical decision-making tool used to evaluate your environmental impact throughout the life cycle of product, services, processes and supply chain. This means that you will gain transparency of some of the environmental impact associated with scope 3 emissions. Scope 3 emissions such as the purchase of capital goods, use of sold product and end of life treatment of sold products contribute to 40% of business carbon footprint. LCA is a relevant approach to understand the full picture of emissions across your value chain and enable you to set specific targets and solutions. The importance of LCA is increasing as it helps to quantify progress related to various sustainability topics such as Science Based Targets and Sustainable Development Goals. To set environmental targets you must first assess your current environmental impact. LCA takes a business from raw material extraction through to materials processing, manufacture, distribution, use, maintenance and end of life.
Our LCAs are based on ISO 14000 series; 14040:2006, 14044:2006. LCA can also be used to support other environmental certifications like Environmental Product Declarations (EPD), Product Environmental Footprints (PEF) and Eco-labelling. EPDs are third-party verified and publicly available documentation which are registered to show the environmental impact of a product or service. In addition to conducting an LCA we support with your EPD which is used to communicate and demonstrate the performance of your product or service.
